Part Time TV Production Technician/Graphic Artist/News Editor| KXLY4 News | Spokane, WA

About this opportunity:

Want to work in a newsroom where you have the creative freedom to try new things?  Come work for KXLY4 News. We're looking for a smart, creative, hard-working, engaged individual to be a part of our TV News Production team as a Part Time TV Production Tech/Graphic Artist/News Editor. You'll do everything from directing live television productions to troubleshooting to creating news graphics. You'll work closely with our experienced news team to create the best news program, adding our own local spin to generate interest and engagement. Your work will have meaning, as we strive to tell the stories that connect our audience to their community.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Direct live television productions from the control room by using MOSART automation system
  • Operate TV studio camera during newscasts
  • Prepare daily news graphics
  • Coordinate and execute all aspects of a fast paced "live" production
  • Ensure a clear, concise and orderly flow of information to those involved during the broadcast
  • Coordinate the show’s rundown to reflect production values, such as video, audio and graphic requirements before the production
  • Oversee all aspects of the production, whether technical in nature, such as lighting, camera positions, special effects, etc., as well as production values, such as timings and graphics to ensure a first-rate, quality broadcast before, during and after a broadcast
  • Troubleshoot and correct: video and audio quality, monitoring all technical operations and maintaining quality and discipline during show productions

 

What you’ll bring:

  • TV audio, CG operation and news graphics experience
  • AA or 4-year degree in Broadcast Production, Telecomm or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of experience in television production preferred
  • Working knowledge of Avid and Adobe Photoshop
  • Thorough working knowledge of television production technology and television production processes
  • Clear, concise and comprehensive verbalcommunication skills to effectively execute delivery of quality news product
  • Ability to think quickly and work in an extremely fast-paced, deadline-driven environment without supervision
  • Excellent project-management skills and constant attention to detail
  • Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds
