This year’s recipient started his career in broadcasting at 17 years of age as a DJ at KFXD in the summer of 1969.  After a semester at Arizona State, he was back on the air at KFXD where he became the music director. In 1971 he was the first disc jockey in the world to play “Indian Reservation” by Paul Revere & the Raiders which became their biggest hit and certified gold record.

In the Spring of 1973, he was part of the crew that achieved the highest share in market history of 26.0 Share. By the Summer of 1975 he was the program director of KFXD. From 1977 to 1978 he hosted the morning show. In his final year at KFXD they achieved the highest cume in Idaho history (108,000).
In 1978 he became the sports director at KIVI-TV and hosted the Broncos football coaches show.  In 1981 he was recruited away to KBCI-TV as their sports director.

After a short return to KFXD he made his move to the advertising side of the business to United Cable (now Sparklight). But on-air remained in his blood, including color commentary with Paul J. Schnider on KBOI Radio covering (two football seasons and one basketball season). In 1986, he moved to the KTVB sales department.

From 1987-1995 he doubled as a color commentator on KTVB broadcasts of Boise State football and basketball and co-hosted the football coaches show. In1996, he became a contributor during football season on KTVB’s Sunday Sports Extra and on Broncos football pregame shows (the “Scott Slant”). In 2000 the Daily Scott Slant segments were added to KTIK SportsRadio, and on 670 KBOI and continues to air on both stations today. The “Scott Slant” Sports feature became so popular that by 2001 the Feature aired on KTVB.com and KTIK.com.

From 2005-09: He had a second stint as color commentator on KTVB broadcasts of Boise State football. This included the 2008 Boise State undefeated season where ESPN2 picks up KTVB’s telecast of Broncos-Nevada game.

Please join me in congratulating the 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Tom Scott.
