About us:

KXLY4 News, the ABC affiliate in Spokane, Washington, is a family-owned company with a family-minded newsroom. You’ll work in a newsroom that truly believes in our role to serve the community and tell the stories that empower and inform our viewers. You'll also live in a city that's growing and changing, with virtually no traffic and plenty of access to the outdoors.

About this opportunity:

KXLY-TV is looking for our next evening news anchor. We're looking for someone who is engaged, enthusiastic and excited about going beyond the antiquated definition of "news anchor." We're looking for someone who is passionate about creating original content for all platforms - and, passionate about finding creative ways to deliver that content to our viewers. The ideal candidate will be part of daily news coverage before the "on air" light goes on, contributing story ideas, engaging viewers on social media, and working on special reports.

What you’ll do:

  • Anchor daily newscasts Monday-Friday
  • Contribute to the overall execution of news on TV and digital platforms
  • Publish content and generate story ideas through social media sites like Facebook and Twitter
  • Assist news producer in preparing newscast
  • Assist online staff in preparing for digital stories

What you’ll bring:

  • 4 year degree with an emphasis in Journalism or equivalent
  • Computer literacy, including newsroom computer systems
  • Knowledge of broadcast quality camera equipment
  • Ability to edit video on Avid, or similar equipment
  • Possess strong broadcast and AP style writing skills
  • Proficient at posting content to various websites
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment
  • Must demonstrate strong news judgment
  • Minimum four years’ experience as an Anchor or Multi-Media Journalist preferred
  • Videography and non-linear editing experience preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Preferred Skills:

What KXLY offers:

  • A supportive, fast-paced, innovative news experience
  • We’re a dynamic and progressive family-owned business that values our employees, our culture and our community
  • We are a team of talented and creative professionals.  Who wouldn’t want to work with the best in the business?
  • Mentoring and training programs to promote success in your role
  • Medical, dental, vision, prescription, life and long term disability insurance, EAP, flexible spending account, 401(k), paid time off including vacation, sick, personal days and holidays

What’s next?  This is a rare opportunity to be part of something big. If you're willing to take risks, work hard and have a little fun, we'd love to have you on our team.  To apply on-line, go to:
